WLAX: Wildcats Drop Non-Conference Game to Morrisville.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team lost to the Morrisville State Mustangs 23-2 in non-conference play. The Wildcats were outmatched right from the jump. SUNY Poly is now 3-9 this season.

 

Morrisville set the tone in the first quarter by scoring 10 goals while holding SUNY Poly to just one. Cara Walker opened the scoring with a free position shot, followed by Maddie Baum's connection with Aria Treadway to extend their lead. The offensive onslaught continued with goals from Alexa Ringgold, and Alana McDonald. Morrisville closed out the first quarter with a commanding 10-1 advantage.

 

The second quarter saw Morrisville maintain their offensive pressure, finding the back of the net four more times. Treadway and McDonald were instrumental in stretching the lead, combining for six goals in the game. The Morrisville defense remained steadfast, shutting out SUNY Poly in the second quarter, and heading into halftime with a commanding 14-1 lead.

 

In the third quarter, Morrisville continued its dominance on both ends of the field. Treadway and Baum continued to find the back of the net, extending the lead to 19-1. McDonald also contributed with her fourth and fifth goals of the game, showcasing her offensive prowess. SUNY Poly struggled to generate any offense, and Morrisville entered the final quarter with a commanding 21-1 lead.

 

SUNY Poly managed to find some consolation in the final quarter when Kaitlin Kopcza converted a free position shot for their second goal of the game. However, Morrisville quickly responded with goals from Treadway and Alexa Ringgold. The final score was 23-2, in favor of Morrisville.

 

Alana McDonald's outstanding performance was a key factor in Morrisville's victory, as she tallied an impressive nine goals in the match. Aria Treadway also showcased her offensive prowess, contributing six goals and one assist.
