WLAX: Big Second Half Gives Thomas a Win Over SUNY Poly.

 

WATERVILLE, Maine – The SUNY Poly women's lacrosse team lost to Thomas College 15-7 in a conference matchup on Saturday. The loss drops SUNY Poly to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while Thomas improves to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

 

The Terriers were led by Lauren Bartlett, who finished with five goals and two assists, while Alia Chasse had a hat trick and a pair of assists. Emily Wallingford and Mary Larochelle contributed two goals each to the victory.

 

SUNY Poly started off strong in the first quarter, with Rylie Fischer scoring a goal at the 12:55 mark. Molly Burdick and Kaitlin Kopcza added to the scoreboard, giving SUNY Poly a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Thomas (Me.) turned the tables in the second quarter, scoring eight goals while holding SUNY Poly to just two.

 

In the second half, SUNY Poly was only able to muster one more goal, courtesy of Kopcza, while Thomas scored three more goals to seal the victory.

 

Kopcza led SUNY Poly with three goals on three shots on goal. Burdick had two goals and one assist. Rylie Fischer and Madison Bastien each scored a goal. Jayden Brown made 21 saves in goal for SUNY Poly.

The Wildcats will travel to NVU-Lyndon on Saturday, April 22nd for a NAC matchup. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start.
