WBB: Strong Start Not Enough As Wildcats Drop Game Against Fighting Tigers 76-53.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference contest against SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday night 76-53. A strong first-quarter performance was not enough as the Fighting Tigers used a strong second half to secure the victory. With the loss, the Wildcats move to 5-15 on the season and 4-5 in North Atlantic Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats knocked down back-to-back three-pointers from Alysa Jackson and Kelsey Meca to give the Wildcats an early 6-2 lead. Jackson and Meca would continue the scoring for the Wildcats, who led 11-8 with 6:04 remaining in the first quarter. With just under a minute to play in the quarter, Sophia Murray would add in a three-pointer as well, and the Wildcats would take a 17-13 lead going into the second quarter.

The Wildcats maintained the lead for the majority of the second quarter before Sierra Goodson made a three-pointer with 1:22 left to tie the game at 31-31. The Fighting Tigers would take a 35-31 lead heading into halftime. The Fighting Tigers would jump out to a hot start and never look back, scoring 41 points in the second half to hang on to the 76-53 victory.
