WBB: Wildcats Drop Conference Game to Cobleskill 66-41.

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Women's Basketball team was defeated by conference foe SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday evening 66-41. The Wildcats were led by Alysa Jackson, who ended with a team-high 18 points. With the loss, the Wildcats move to 3-11 on the season and 2-3 in North Atlantic Conference play. With the win, the Fighting Tigers improve to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference play.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After an early Wildcats lead, the Fighting Tigers would go on a run to jump out to a 17-10 lead with 3:11 to play in the first quarter. An Alysa Jackson three-pointer would cut the lead to four, but the Fighting Tigers would continue their strong shooting efforts and go on to take a 23-14 lead into the second quarter.

The Wildcats offense would slow down in the second quarter and would trail 36-27 going into halftime. Cara Walker would score 6 second-quarter points for the Fighting Tigers, while also grabbing 3 rebounds and having 3 assists.

In the second half, the Fighting Tigers would win the third quarter 13-7, led by 8 points from Logan Thayne, who would finish with a game-high 22 points. She also would finish with 12 rebounds to complete the double-double.

The Wildcats would outscore the Fighting Tigers in the fourth quarter, but it wouldn't be enough to erase the deficit as they would lose the conference matchup 66-41.
