MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly women's basketball team traveled to SUNY Morrisville on Tuesday night to begin North Atlantic Conference play. The Wildcats were led by a strong performance from Alivia Turk, who finished the game with a team-high 15 points. Despite the strong performance, the Mustangs would win the conference opener 60-42.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Ashley Reid kicked off the scoring for the Wildcats on Tuesday night, connecting on a three-point attempt to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead. After two quick baskets from the Mustangs, Reid would again connect for the Wildcats, this time on a layup after collecting her own rebound to retake the lead 5-4. The Mustangs would end the quarter on a 12-4 run, however, and take a 16-9 lead into the second quarter.

Josely Medina would connect on a three-point attempt for the Mustangs four seconds into the second quarter to extend the lead to 19-9. The Wildcats would struggle to get points on the board in the second quarter, only scoring 6 points. The Mustangs would take a 28-15 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcats would be much more efficient on offense but would be unable to overcome the initial 13-point deficit. The Mustangs would win the third quarter 18-15, and the fourth quarter 14-12 to hold onto the 60-42 victory. Hannah Bonczkowski led the way for the Mustangs, registering 16 points, including four three-pointers.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be home on Friday night for a conference game against SUNY Canton. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM.
