WBB: Burdick and Jackson Lead Wildcats to a Win on Senior Day.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team earned a dominant win over Cazenovia on Saturday on Senior Day. Before the game, the four seniors; Allison Osborn-Smith, Lauren Denny, Lyrik Jackson, and Molly Burdick were honored with a short ceremony highlighting their career achievements and accolades during their time at SUNY Poly. The game was never in doubt for the Wildcats but was exciting nonetheless as the two seniors who played had career-high stats. The final score of the game was 98-35.

 

SENIOR PERFORMANCE SPOTLIGHT:

Molly Burdick had a day to remember for the Wildcats. She tied her career best with 10 assists and recorded her second career triple-double with 32 points and 14 rebounds. She also had seven steals in the game tying her career-high. The 32-point game was her second-highest career point total in a single game.

 

Lyrik Jackson had a solid stat line to wrap up her last regular season game in a Wildcat uniform. Jackson scored 17 points and had a career-high 12 assists for a double-double. She also had five steals and a pair of rebounds.

 

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  •  Kierra Connor had an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double with a block, a steal, and a pair of assists.
  • Kelsey Meca scored 10 points and four assists for the Wildcats. She knocked down three 3-pointers in the game.
  • Marica Laguerre had a career-high 10 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats.
  • Patricia Vanlue had eight points and 10 rebounds for SUNY Poly.
  • Alivia Turk led Cazenovia with 10 points. She also had three rebounds and a block.
  • Sydney Burk scored nine points on three 3-pointers for Cazenovia.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will await the final seedings for the NAC Championship Tournament to learn who they will be facing in the first round. The Wildcats will be the #1 seed in the West Division after going a perfect 10-0 in Divisional play. The schedule for the postseason will be announced in the next few days, but we do know that SUNY Poly will be the host for the first two rounds of the West Division side of the bracket.
