WBB: Wildcats Come Up Short in Non-Conference Game With Saint Lawrence.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team hosted the St. Lawrence University Saints on Tuesday night. The Wildcats lost the game but battled hard despite a short bench. The final score was 60-53. The Wildcats are now 12-12 this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats got off to a strong start outpacing the Saints in the first quarter. Lyrik Jackson scored 10 points for the Wildcats in the first. She hit two of the three 3-pointers she took in the quarter. The Wildcats ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a seven-point lead into the break. St. Lawrence flipped the script in the second quarter tying the game at 26 in the final seconds of the half on a three-pointer by Olivia Middleton.

The Saints took the lead early in the third on another Olivia Middleton 3-pointer, starting what would be a turbulent third quarter that saw the lead change hands four times in five minutes. A 9-0 run late in the third gave the Saints a 42-34 lead with just under two minutes to play, but a pair of free throws by Molly Burdick cut the lead to six at the end of the quarter. In the fourth the two teams traded buckets, keeping the game within reach for the Wildcats. The Saints would hold on to the lead thanks to some timely shooting, ultimately winning the game 60-53.
