WBB: Wildcats Pick Up NAC Win Against Thomas College 62-53.

WATERVILLE, MAINE - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team defeated North Atlantic Conference opponent Thomas College 62-53 on Saturday afternoon. Molly Burdick, Lauren Denny, and Lyrik Jackson all scored in double figures for the Wildcats. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 5-8 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. With the loss, the Terriers move to 2-10 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.

Lauren Denny would get the scoring going for the Wildcats, knocking down a jump shot and a three-point shot to get the Wildcats out to a 5-0 lead. Lyrik Jackson and Molly Burdick would both chip in points for the Wildcats, who took a 12-9 lead going into the second quarter.

A jump shot from Ashley Reid would extend the Wildcats' lead to 16-9 before a Terrier run would cut the Wildcats' lead to 18-17 with 5:41 to play in the half. Burdick and Denny would take over the last five minutes of the half, scoring nine of the ten Wildcats points to take a 28-22 lead going into halftime.

After Patricia Vanlue sunk a free throw to start the second half, the Terriers would go on a 9-0 run to take a 31-29 lead. The third quarter would prove to be one of runs for each team, as the Wildcats would answer with a run on their own to take a 38-31 lead with 2:36 to play. One last Terrier run would give them a 41-39 lead going into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter, however, would be all Wildcats, as they would win the quarter 23-12 to hold on to a 62-53 victory.
