WBB: Wildcats Earn Blowout Win Over SUNY Canton on Senior Day. 

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball dominated SUNY Canton on Saturday with a 72-46 win on senior day. Prior to the game, the Wildcat Athletics Department honored the two seniors from this year's team, Alexandria DeBeatham and Sophie Wittenbeck, with a short ceremony to celebrate their careers. The win puts the Wildcat overall record at 13-6 with a 6-0 record in NAC West Division Play. They currently lead the division over the 4-1 Cobleskill Fighting Tigers who they will face this upcoming weekend on the road.  

 

The game was never in question for the Wildcats who led by as many as 37 points. The defense held every player on the Roos to under eight points in the game while the Wildcat offense shot nearly 50% from the field and 50% from 3-point range.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Lyrik Jackson led all players with 21 points. She also had six rebounds, six assists, and two steals. 

  • Lauren Denny had a solid all-around game for SUNY Poly. She had 15 points, four rebounds, five assists, and a steal. 

  • Kierra Connor scored 12 points, had seven rebounds, two steals, and a career-high five blocks.

  • Briana Brousseau led Canton with seven points. She also had four rebounds and a steal. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will be on the road at SUNY Cobleskill on Friday, February 4th. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM tip-off in Cobleskill, NY. The game has major postseason implications as a Wildcat win would likely cement their position as the #1 seed in the NAC West Division.
