WBB: Wildcats Win at Home 83-70 Over NVU-Johnson.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Wildcats never trailed in Friday nights 83-70 win over NVU-Johnson. The Wildcats went up 12 after a quarter of play and never looked back, building up their lead to 17 points in the third to secure their seventh win in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The Wildcats are now 12-6 this season with a 7-1 NAC record. 

 

SUNY Poly's trio of Molly Burdick, Lyrik Jackson, and Kierra Connor accounted for 64 of the Wildcat's 83 points in the win. Burdick led the Wildcats with a 25 point, 11 rebound double-double. Jackson had 22 points and shot 53% from the field. Kierra Connor had a 17 point 11 rebound double-double. The biggest advantage for the Wildcats over NVU-Johnson was in the paint where the Wildcats scored 18 more points and had 13 more rebounds.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

  • Molly Burdick had her 13th double-double of the season. She scored a team-high 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Burdick also had a steal, two blocks, and an assist.

  • Lyrik Jackson scored 22 points, had seven rebounds, six assists, and a steal. 

  • Kierra Connor had her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also had a game-high three blocks. 

  • Paris Atuahene scored a game-high 27 points for NVU-Johnson. She also had six assists and a game-high five steals. 

  • Gabriella Wardwell had 14 points for the Badgers. She also had a team-high eight rebounds. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will host senior day on Saturday, January 29th against SUNY Canton at 3:00 PM. The Wildcats will honor seniors Sophie Wittenbeck and Alexandra DeBeatham prior to the game with a short senior day ceremony.
