WBB: Wildcats Beat Lyndon 75-54 to Improve to 4-0 in NAC Play.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball earned a 21 point win at home on Friday against NVU-Lyndon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. Lyrik Jackson led the way for the Wildcats with a game-high 37 points. SUNY Poly is now 9-3 this season with a 4-0 record in NAC play. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The game was won for the Wildcats in the fourth quarter where the Wildcat defense held Lyndon to 14 points while the offense extended what was a modest lead to a high point of 22 points with under a minute to play. The Wildcats shot 50% in the fourth quarter, the highest percentage of any quarter in the game. They also had three blocks in the quarter. In the entirety of the game, the Wildcats led the rebounds (59-43), assists (16-11), blocks (6-2), and points in the paint (34-22) categories. As a team, the Wildcats shot 33.8 percent from the field and an outstanding 87.5% from the free-throw line where they went 21-24. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Lyrik Jackson had an outstanding game for the wildcats. She scored a game-high 37 points on 12-20 shooting and went a perfect 12-12 from the charity stripe. The junior also had 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season. Jackson also had an assist and three steals. 

  • Molly Burdick had her ninth double-double of the season. The junior had 17 points, a game-high 19 rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocks. 

  • Sophie Wittenbeck scored nine points and had a pair of rebounds. 

  • Lauren Denny had a game-high eight assists. The eight assists match her career-high with the Wildcats. 

  • Lea Crumpton Led Lyndon with 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists. 

  • Faith Poirier scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench for Lyndon. 

  • Kerrigan Disorda had 10 points and a team-high five assists. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will host Westfield State on Saturday, January 8th at 2:00 PM. The game will be played in the Campus Center Gym. No spectators will be allowed at the game, but it will be streamed live on the SUNY Poly Sports Network (SPSN)
