MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team defended their home court against Morrisville State in their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Playoff Quarterfinal Win on Tuesday. The Wildcats got off to a hot start getting a 10-point advantage in the first quarter and never looked back. They would go on to win big 73-45.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Wildcats spread the wealth on offense. Six players had double digit point totals. The charge was led by Senior Rylie Smith (St Johnsville, N.Y.) who had 13 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Freshman Molly Burdick (Vestal, N.Y.) contributed 12 points, three rebounds, and an assist. The Poly Women's team won the game with a dominant offensive performance shooting 50% from the field, 31.6% from deep, and 81.3% from the free throw line. The Wildcats also dominated the glass out rebounding Morrisville 41-24. The 'Cats played a dominant and complete two-way game.
NOTABLES:
- The Wildcats had six players with double figure point totals. The game high scorer was Rylie Smith with 13 points, followed by Molly Burdick with 12. Kiersten Leos (Camden, N.Y.), Shannon Harrison (Holland Patent, N.Y.), Jadia Washington (Elmira, N.Y.), and Cassidy Albright (New York Mills, N.Y.) each had 10 points for SUNY Poly.
- The Cats were led on the glass by Jadia Washington who had nine rebounds. Kiersten Leos had eight.
- Morrisville was led by Junior guard Sierra Henry (Newfield, N.Y.) with her team high 11 points.
- Morrisville was led on the glass by Tori Rockefeller (Bloomeville, N.Y.) who had five boards.
UP NEXT:
The Wildcats will hit the road for the NEAC Final Four, hosted by Keuka College. The Wildcats were named the #1 seed after a re-seed by the NEAC. The Wildcats will play #4 Penn State Abington in the first game of the day on Saturday, February 23rd. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM tip. The Wildcats played the Nittany Lions earlier in the season, earning a 69-50 win at home.
