WBB: Milestones Fall in Senior Day Win Over St. Elizabeth.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team continued their winning ways, earning their tenth straight victory with a big senior day win against St. Elizabeth. The win gives SUNY Poly 18 on the year and has them atop the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) north division. The Wildcats battled back from multiple first half deficits in the game finishing strong in the second half to ultimately win 75-67.

MILESTONE:  

Junior guard Kiersten Leos (Camden, N.Y.) hit a big career milestone with 3:19 left in the first quarter. Leos scored her 1,000th career point on a layup. She would go on to finish the day with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT:

It is fitting that on SUNY Poly's senior night the Wildcats lone senior Rylie Smith (St. Johnsville, N.Y.) carried the scoring load. Smith had 16 points on the day, two rebounds, and an assist. After today's game Smith has 491 career points, 195 rebounds, and 42 assists in a Wildcat uniform.

NOTABLES:

  • The Wildcats had four players with double figure point totals, Rylie Smith had 16, Kiersten Leos put up 14, Taylor Aybar (Woodside, N.Y.) had 13, and Jaida Washington (Elmira, N.Y.) came off the bench and contributed 11 points to the cause.
  • St. Elizabeth was lead Deja Ingram (Trenton, N.J.) who had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
  • As a team SUNY Poly shot 42.9% from the field, 18.8% from three, and 68.4% from the line.
  • The stat that made the biggest difference in the game was the Wildcat's 23 second chance points. The Eagles had just six.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will be in action again on Wednesday February 13th at home against SUNY Cobleskill. The game will be the last regular season home game for the Wildcats. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM in the Campus Center Gym.
