Wildcats Drop First Conference Game to Penn State-Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Wildcats Women's Basketball team played their first conference game against Penn State-Harrisburgh  on Saturday. Game one of the Wildcat's two game road trip went to the Nittany Lions by a final score of SUNYIT 68, Penn State-Harrisburg 87.

 The Nittany Lions got great play from Junior Miranda Zeanchock who led Penn State with 25 points and went 5-9 on 3 point attempts. Senior Amanda Moyer had a double-double with 13 points and a game high 12 rebounds.

The game was close at the half as SUNYIT went into the locker room for halftime down by only 4 points.  The second half was a different story as Penn State stretched the 4 point lead to 11 before the Wildcats made their first basket of the half. The Wildcats were unable to catch the Lions and the lead held up for the remainder of the game.

The duo of Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, NY / Rome Free Acadamy) and Abbey Hanahan (Stillwater, N.Y. / Stillwater H.S.) accounted for a good majority of the Wildcat offense. Abbey registered 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. Lyndsey led all scorers with 27 points on the day and had 3 steals and 3 assists.   

The win by Pen State brings their record to (8-2, 4-0 NEAC) and puts the Wildcats at (2-5, 0-1 NEAC) The Wildcats play game two of their road trip tomorrow at 12:00 pm at Gallaudet University.
