MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly cross country teams hosted the 8th Annual Wildcat Classic Invitational on Saturday. Eight teams competed in the meet. Cobleskill won the men's race, placing all five of their scoring runners in the top seven and claiming the top three podium positions. SUNY ESF won the women's race with a score of 21, placing all five scoring runners in the top 10. SUNY Poly placed third in both the men's and women's races.
Cobleskill dominated the men's race with a score of 19. Eamonn Sulivan, Dillon Vandemortel, and Nick Logan placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively for the Tigers. De'von McClendon was SUNY Poly's top scorer at 9th place (29:41.8). The Wildcats scored 75 points with runners finishing 9th, 11th, 17th, 18th, and 20th.
In the women's race, SUNY ESF dominated with 21 points to take the top spot. ESF's Bryce Hopper won the race with a time of 24:38.5. Lauren Phetteplace ran a solid race, finishing first for the Wildcats in 4th place (3rd scoring) with a time of 25:45.1. The Wildcats scoring runners finished in 3rd, 13th, 14th, 18th, and 23rd for a team total of 71 points. It was the first time this season that the Wildcats had five runners and were able to place.

The Wildcats will head to SUNY Geneseo to run in the Geneseo Invitational on October 2nd. The race will start at 11:00 AM and will be run at the National Warplane Museum.
