Men’s Volleyball Halts Four-Game Skid with Sweep of Sage

TROY, NY – The SUNYIT men's volleyball team halted its four-game skid with a 3-0 sweep over The Sage Colleges in non-conference action Tuesday night.  The Wildcats improved to 8-9 overall with the victory, while Sage fell to 8-8 on the year.

SUNYIT took the first set 25-18 before winning the next two sets by the score of 25-20.  Junior Ryan Meller (Eden, NY/Eden Central) led the way for the Wildcats, smashing a match-high 11 kills to go along with 11 digs and two assists.  Freshman Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had a tremendous all-around game with 10 kills, seven digs, five assists and two blocks, while senior Tysheem Foy-Carter (Brooklyn, NY/Boys and Girls) registered a team-best 12 digs. 

Sophomore Jeff Coon (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) finished with six digs and a match-high four aces, while freshman Tyler Kuss (Chili, NY/Gates-Chili) compiled four of his five kills in the deciding set and senior Jonathan Brochu (Latham, NY/Shaker) tallied 27 assists and seven digs.

Jake Douty had eight kills and five digs for Sage, while Matt Byon finished with a match-best 17 digs.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
