MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team hosted SUNY Canton on Wednesday in a non-conference game. For the fourth time in their last four chances the Wildcats recorded a shutout. The defense, which has been the strength of the Wildcats all season, kept Canton off the board. The Wildcats won 2-0 in regulation.

Zach Joseph (Oneonta, N.Y. / Oneonta HS) scored the first goal for SUNY Poly in the 27th minute after the Wildcat defense deflected an attempted clear just outside of Cantons 18 yard box. Joseph wrangled the ball off of the deflection, beat the only defender standing in his way, and knocked a bouncing ball past the Canton goal keeper for his first goal of his career at SUNY Poly.

SUNY Poly scored again in the 66th minute of play when Nick McBride (Rotterdam, N.Y. / Mohonasen HS) was awarded a penalty kick. The penalty kick from McBride was saved by the goal keeper, however the high bouncing rebound off of the keepers hands went right back to McBride who rocketed the second chance into the back of the net for the goal.

The victory brings the Wildcats winning streak to four games, all in shutout fashion. The 'Cats are now 6-4-1 (3-2 NEAC). The team will host Cobleskill on Saturday in search of their fourth conference win of the season. The game will start at 12:00 PM.
