Roos Score Twice in Second Half to Defeat Visiting Wildcats, 2-1

CANTON, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Men's Soccer Team (5-6-2) lost a non-conference tilt on Friday night, 2-1 to the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton. The Roos netted two goals in the final period to take a 2-0 lead, and withstood a late goal by the Wildcats to secure the victory.

SUNY Poly narrowly out shot the Roos in a defense-dominated first half, 4 to 3, but saw that advantage tilt back the other way as SUNY Canton exploded for 12 shots to the Wildcats' 7 in the second half.

The Kangaroos broke through for their first score in the 60th minute on a strike by Hunter Mowery. Nick Escalante assisted on the play.

Escalante then added a score of his own in the 79th minute, with both Josh Geller and Devin Gruneisen assisting.

The Wildcats were able to make things interesting on a Bryan Kilpatrick (Endicott, N.Y. / Union-Endicott) goal in the 87th minute, but could not come up with the equalizer during the final three minutes.

SUNY Poly will return home for their next contest, a 7 pm pairing with Union College on Tuesday, October 14th.
