MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Men's Soccer Team (5-5-2, 3-2-1 NEAC) picked up a win Tuesday night, defeating the Trailblazers of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), 1-0.

Jesse Yanarella (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Ketchum) picked up his fourth save of the year, and a well-earned one at that as the sophomore made 7 saves in the game.

One of Yanarella's best saves came early, as the keeper came out to meet Trailblazer forward Kwadwo Kusi on a breakaway one-on-one, cutting down the distance and deflecting away Kusi's shot attempt.

The Wildcats out shot MCLA 8-to-2 in the first half, and finally broke through for a score in the 43rd minute on a goal from defenseman Bryan Kilpatrick (Endicott, N.Y. / Union-Endicott). The 6-foot sophomore took advantage of a great free kick by Ben Toach (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford), who was credited with an assist on the play for sending a deep ball into the Trailblazer penalty box where Kilpatrick was able to convert it.

SUNY Poly was able to hold on in the second half as the visitors stepped up their attack, turning the tables on the Wildcats by out shooting them 8-to-7 in the second half.

Yanarella would again play a big role, coming up big with a pair of saves on promising header-attempts from both Anthony Basile and Tyler Russell, the latter's also serving as the last play of the game.

The Wildcats return to action this Friday, October 10th, with a road game at SUNY Canton. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
