CLINTON, N.Y. – The Wildcats (2-3-2) surrendered three goals in the first 15 minutes of Wednesday's away game with unbeaten Hamilton College (3-0-1), as the Continentals cruised to a 4-1 victory.
Last season the Wildcats shocked the Continentals for the team's first win in the then 24-match history of the rivalry, defeating Hamilton 1-0 on Wildcat Field. The Continentals seemed determine to avenge that loss on Wednesday with their early play, which included two assists from team-leading scorer Alec Talsania.
The first goal came off a corner kick by Talsania that was put in by Buck Reynolds from right in front of the Wildcat net. The second goal came on a free kick to the top left corner from just outside the 18, and the home team's final goal of the first half came at the 14:23 mark.
Hamilton out shot the Wildcats 20 to 6 on the night, as Jesse Yanarella (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Wappingers Falls) finished with 6 saves.
Ben Toach (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford) scored SUNY Poly's only goal of the night, a free kick strike to the upper right corner with 7 seconds remaining in the game.
The Wildcats will get back to NEAC action this Saturday as they head to SUNY Cobleskill. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
