Wildcats Extend Win Streak to Five in 3-1 Win over SUNY Canton

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Soccer Team improved to 11-1-1 on the year with a 3-1 victory over SUNY Canton on Friday night.

The Wildcats got on the board early, as senior Josh Kimber (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) scored just 9:53 into the game. Kimber received an assist from Nicholas McBride (Schenectady, N.Y. / Mohonasen).

In the second half it was Kimber acting as playmaker, assisting on a goal by Bazo Coulibaly (Bronx, N.Y. / Kennedy HS) in the 52nd minute.

Given the state of the Wildcat defense this season, the game appeared all but over, however Nick Escalante made things interesting in the 62nd minute with an unassisted goal to pull the Kangaroos within one score of the lead.

The score was the first goal given up by the Wildcats in 5 games.

In the 84th minute, first-year Francesco Tine (Chatham, N.Y. / Chatham) gave SUNYIT some breathing room, scoring his 4th goal of the season on an unassisted play, and giving the game its final score of 3-1.

SUNYIT will travel next to SUNY ESF on Sunday. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
