SUNYIT Men’s Soccer Ranked 1st in the Nation in Save Percentage

MARCY, N.Y. – After a pair of shutouts last week, the SUNYIT Men's Soccer Team (10-1-1, 6-1 NEAC) shot up to a first-place tie with the University of Texas at Dallas for the highest save percentage in Division III. Both teams boast a save percentage of .911.

SUNYIT's main stopper Malick Faye (Bronx, N.Y. / MLK), who has played all but 22 minutes and 16 seconds of the SUNYIT season between the posts, also moved up from 7th last week to 3rd in the national rankings in save percentage with a mark of .927. The senior keeper, who may be having the best year of what has already been a highly-decorated career, is also 3rd nationally in goals-against average, surrendering a paltry .334 scores per game.

Not surprisingly, Faye was named the NEAC Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
