Wildcats Fall to Regional Foe Hamilton, 3-0

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Soccer Team lost on the road at Hamilton Wednesday night, 3-0 to the Continentals. The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Wildcats.

For the second time in as many losses, the Wildcats surrendered a hat-trick to an opposing player. Last time around at Penn St.-Abington it was Nittany Lions scorer Marco Paparo. On Wednesday, it was Continentals senior Anthony Balbo. The 5-10 forward from Poughkeepsie wasted no time, scoring his first just 2:39 into the match off an assist from Griffin Abbott.

Balbo's second and third goals wouldn't come until the 55th and 67th minutes, however the damage was done early as the Wildcats just couldn't seem to get anything going on offense. Both teams managed just 6 shots on goal, but the Continentals made better use of theirs, scoring on half their chances. Malick Faye (New York, N.Y. / MLK) finished with 3 saves on the day, but even 5 wouldn't have done it as no player on SUNYIT finished with more than 1 SOG.

The Wildcats will look to get back on track with another home match this weekend against Wells. Game time is set for Saturday at 3:00 pm.
