Wildcats Score 7 at Home to Breeze Past Gallaudet

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Soccer team (6-4-0) shutout the Gallaudet Bison (2-8-0) in their NEAC Conference game bringing their shutout streak to three games in a row (all conference games).

The Wildcat defense was aggressive and held the Bison to only 2 shots on the day, while the offense put up 3 goals in the first half and 4 in the second. The scoring started quickly as senior Mario Gomez (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) scored the first goal on an assist by Matt Arcidiacono (Oneonta, N.Y. / Oneonta HS) in just the first two minutes of the game. After their first goal, the Wildcats didn't take their foot off the gas as three players Diego Montaleza (New York, N.Y. / MLK), Cameron Adams (Groton, N.Y. / Tompkins Cortland CC), and Leighton Francis (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Delhi CC) each had 2 goals as the Wildcats pounced on the Bison.

The only real bright spot for Gallaudet was Eric Setzler in goal. He recorded 13 saves, but was simply overwhelmed by the SUNYIT offense as they took 41 shots (20 on goal) to hand Gallaudet their 8th straight loss.

The win on Sunday gives SUNYIT a 3-2 NEAC record and brings Gallaudet to 0-5 in NEAC play. The Wildcats will resume their campaign on Wednesday, October 3rd at Hamilton College, as they look to hand the Continentals their 5th loss on the season.
