READING, PA – The SUNYIT Wildcats finished 1-1 on their weekend trip to the brothers' Penn-State (Abington and Berks). SUNYIT dropped Saturday's match against P.S.-Abington 3-1, but rebounded on Sunday to shut out P.S.-Berks 4-0 behind a whopping four goals from SUNYIT junior Josh Kimber (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango).

Kimber's acute scoring expansion quadrupled his season goal-total prior to the game in Reading.

Despite SUNYIT's apparent dominance (the Wildcats out shot P.S. Berks 22 to 6), SUNYIT was scoreless heading into the 55th minute. It was at that point that Kimber became the beneficiary of a Kurreem Williams (Mt. Vernon, N.Y. / TCI) cross that Kimber was able to poke through the left side.

As has often been the case for the Wildcats this season, Kimber's first goal seemed to jostle something loose for SUNYIT as the visitors struck again just 37 seconds later. Kimber's second goal was a chip shot over the keeper's head. Assisting on the play was Diego Montaleza (New York, N.Y. / MLK), who leads SUNYIT with 3 assists on the year.

Kimber's final exclamation points came in the 80th and 83rd minute of the game. The junior's incredible day actually vaulted him into team-leads in goals and points on the year.

Sunday's game was a welcome occurrence after SUNYIT lost only their second conference game in the last three seasons on Saturday to host team Penn St.-Abington (SUNYIT lost their first conference game earlier this year in an away match with Morrisville St.).

Senior Mario Gomez (Rome, N.Y. / RFA) tried to keep the Wildcats in the game with is second goal of the season in the 55th minute, tying the score 1-1, but ultimately Penn St.-Abington's Marco Paparo was too much for SUNYIT. The Nittany Lions' forward had a hat-trick, including a header in the 68th minute to give the Lions a 2-1 lead and, ultimately, the win.

The Wildcats will welcome a pair of home matches this weekend as part of SUNYIT Wildcat Weekend. Saturday's match at 2:00 pm has the men hosting Penn St.-Harrisburg, while Sunday's match (also at 2:00 pm) features the Gallaudet Bison.
