Men's Soccer Posts Double Loss at Fredonia State's Clarion Classic

 

FREDONIA, NY – The men's soccer team traveled to Fredonia, NY this past weekend to play in the Clarion Classic hosted by Fredonia State and the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk, NY. 

 

The Wildcats took on the Blue Devils on Friday September 10th, and after a hard fought battle, Fredonia ended the game with a 1-0 finish. 

 

Luke Tylutki (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford-Mendon) scored the winning goal for the Blue Devils in the 68th minute.

 

In the goal, earning the shut-out, was Bobby McGinnis (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) who made two saves in the game. 

 

Malick Faye (Bronx, N.Y./MLK) played all 90 minutes in the net for the Wildcats and posted five saves on the day. 

 

On Saturday, SUNYIT took to the Blue Devil turf again, playing Buffalo State College to a 0-1 loss. 

 

Scoring for the Bengals was Kirk Love (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) who knocked in the game winner in the 35th minute after a chip pass from Tony Schiappa (N. Tonawanda, N.Y./N. Tonawanda) 

 

Faye stayed between the pipes for the full 90 minutes once again and was credited with six saves in the game. 

 

The Wildcats return home this Saturday, September 17th against NEAC foe Morrisville State College.  Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Wildcat Soccer Fields.
