UTICA, NY – SUNYIT freshman Diego Montaleza (New York, NY/MLK) has been selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 3.  It is the second time this season that Montaleza has won the award.

Montaleza had an outstanding week for the Wildcats to lead them to two conference victories and a 2-1 overall record during that time period.  The 5-foot-9 midfielder assisted on both of SUNYIT's goals in a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over NEAC rival Penn State Harrisburg this past Saturday, and followed that up with a first-half hat trick in a lopsided 10-0 victory over conference foe Gallaudet University Sunday. 

Montaleza currently leads the team in assists (7) and points (17), while being tied for second in goals (5). 

The two conference victories kept the Wildcats undefeated in the NEAC at 5-0 and placed them at 8-3 overall.  They will be back in action this Saturday when they host conference rival Wells College at the Wildcat Soccer Field.  Game time is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
