UTICA, NY – SUNYIT freshman Diego Montaleza (New York, NY/MLK) has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending September 19.
Montaleza had an outstanding week for the Wildcats, helping them go 2-0 which included a conference victory. The 5-foot-9 midfielder posted a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Hilbert College last Wednesday and followed that up with a goal and two assists in a big 4-3 victory over NEAC rival Morrisville State this past Saturday.
Montaleza currently leads the team in assists (3) and points (7) while also scoring two goals on the year thus far.
The Wildcats are currently 1-0 in the NEAC and 4-2 overall. They will next be in action this weekend when they travel to Pennsylvania for a pair of conference matches, taking on Penn State Abington on Saturday and Penn State Berks on Sunday, with both matches scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
