UTICA, NY – Daniel Twumasi (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) celebrated Senior Day in grand fashion, scoring two goals on the day to guide the SUNYIT men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Keuka College Saturday and secure the NEAC regular season championship.

The Wildcats finished the regular season with an 8-1 record in conference play, allowing them to clinch the top seed in the NEAC and host the conference tournament this Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7.  The rest of the field and start times for each game have yet to be determined.

Twumasi and six of his fellow classmates were honored by the team with a short ceremony before the start of the game.  Twumasi then came out and showed why he is the most prolific goal scorer in the history of the men's soccer program, adding two goals to his already-established record of 24 career goals and giving him a team-best eight on the year.

Keuka held in early advantage six minutes into the contest when Brian Cunliffe put a rebound into the back of the net to put the Storm up 1-0, which would remain the score at intermission.

The Wildcats came out aggressive in the second half, as sophomore Eraldo Marku (Maybrook, NY/Valley Central) scored off a deflection from the Keuka defense two minutes into the half.  Twelve minutes later, Twumasi would score on a header off a cross pass delivered by junior Nico Facey (New York, NY/George Westinghouse), and would then score his second goal on another header off an assist by senior Dennis Owusu-Ansah (Bronx, NY/Harry S. Truman), who finished with two assists on the day and places him in a tie for most career assists in program history with 11.

Keuka's Nate Smith would add a goal at the 87-minute mark to make the game 3-2, but SUNYIT was able to kill the remaining three minutes and secure both the victory and the NEAC regular season crown.

The Wildcats are now 12-5 overall.  Keuka fell to 8-2-1 in the NEAC and 8-5-2 on the year.
