Men's Soccer Falls in Season Opener

CLINTON, NY – The SUNYIT men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to local rival Hamilton College in non-league competition yesterday.  It was the first game of the season for both teams, leaving Hamilton at 1-0 and SUNYIT at 0-1 on the year.

After both teams went scoreless in the first half, Hamilton senior John Sanford would score what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 71st minute of action off an assist from junior Brian Whiston

The Wildcats were able to out-shoot Hamilton 15-12, but SUNYIT couldn't get the ball past sophomore goalie Eric Boodle, who had six saves in the contest, including five in the second half.  Freshman Malick Faye (Bronx, NY/MLK) stopped four shots on the day.

The Wildcats will look to rebound this weekend when they travel to participate in the D'Youville College Tournament.  They will first take on D'Youville this Friday at 8:00 pm before squaring off against Medaille College at noon on Saturday.
