Men's Soccer to Square off against St. Lawrence in First Round of NCAA Tournament

UTICA, NY – After winning its first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship, the SUNYIT men's soccer team will now make its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where the Wildcats will take on the St. Lawrence University Saints on Saturday, November 13 at 11:00 am.

The Wildcats earned an automatic bid to the tournament after defeating Penn State Harrisburg in a penalty shootout 4-3 Sunday. They are currently a program-best 13-5-1 overall and boast the NEAC Coach, Player and Goalie of the Year in head coach Peterson Jerome, freshman forward Diego Montaleza (New York, NY/MLK) and freshman goalie Malick Faye (Bronx, NY/MLK), respectively.

St. Lawrence, 16-2-2 overall and ranked seventh nationally by the NSCAA, earned an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the Liberty League title and will be the host site of the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament this weekend.

Saturday's other matchup will see SUNYAC conference champions Plattsburgh State taking on at-large selection Amherst, with the game scheduled to begin a half hour after the conclusion of game one.  The winners of Saturday's contests will then play at 1:00 pm on Sunday for the right to advance to the sectionals.

Tickets for the games are $6 for adults, $3 for students and $2 for children under 12.
