Golf Places Sixth at NEAC Championships

HARRISBURG, PA – The SUNYIT men's golf team concluded its 2010-11 season with a sixth place finish at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Spring Championships, which was hosted by Penn State Harrisburg at the par-72 Dauphin Highlands Golf Course this past Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Wildcats finished with a total score of 681 and were led by the duo of senior Rich Hickel (New Hartford, NY/Mohawk Valley CC) and sophomore Chris Pace (Cortland, NY/Cortland), who both carded a 168 to finish tied for 19th individually.  Senior James Willey (Middleville, NY/Mohawk Valley CC) finished tied for 24th individually with a score of 171, while sophomore Jeremy Gillen (Lowville, NY/Lowville) was tied for 27th with a score of 174.  Sophomore Corey Winner (Middletown, NY/Middletown) rounded out the Wildcat golfers with a two-day score of 219.

Penn State Harrisburg won the championship with a score of 612 and was led by individual medalist Brad Goss, who finished with a score of 148. 

The Wildcats finished the year with one second-place finish and four top-five finishes.
