Golf Finishes Ninth at Utica College Invitational

UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT golf team carded a 346 and finished ninth out of 10 teams at the Utica College Invitational this past Saturday.

 

Senior Caleb Gordon (Wolcott, NY/Cayuga County CC) shot a 42 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine to card a team-best 82.  Sophomore Chris Pace (Cortland, NY/Cortland) shot an 83 on the day, while junior Rich Hickel (New Hartford, NY/Mohawk Valley CC) shot an 86.  Adam O'Brien carded a 95 to round out the Wildcats. 

 

Castleton State's Eric Slosek claimed individual medalist honors by shooting a 73 and leading his school to a second-place finish with a score of 313, just one stroke behind Scranton's first place score of 312.  Rounding out the top five finishers were Elmira (314), Nazareth (320) and Utica (327).

 

The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, September 10 when they host Utica College at the Valley View Golf Course.  Tee time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
