Men's Golf Finishes Eleventh at ECAC Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – The SUNYIT men's golf team had a final score of 702 and finished in 11th place out of 14 teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate Championships, which was hosted by St. John Fisher College and played at the Midvale Country Club in Rochester, NY this past weekend.

SUNYIT sophomore James Willey (Middleville, NY/Mohawk Valley CC) had the best individual score for SUNYIT during both rounds of the event, shooting an 83 in round one and an 84 in round two for a final score of 167, which placed him in a tie for 23rd out of 70 golfers.  Senior Rich Hickel (New Hartford, NY/Mohawk Valley CC) carded a 175, while fellow classmate Caleb Gordon (Wolcott, NY/Cayuga County CC) finished with a score of 179.  Sophomore Chris Pace (Cortland, NY/Cortland) shot a 181 and senior Adam O'Brien (Skaneateles, NY/Cayuga County CC) shot a 199 to round out the Wildcats.

University of Rochester's Nick Palladino shot a first round 74 and second round 76 to take home individual medalist honors with a score of 150.  Host St. John Fisher won the event for the seventh straight year, finishing with a team total of 631.  New York University came in second with a score of 645, followed by the University of Rochester (646), Elmira College (648) and Saint Lawrence University (659).

 The Wildcats will be back in action this Friday when they travel to take on NEAC rival Cazenovia.  Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 am.
