Men’s Basketball Gets Key Conference Victory over Keuka, 74-71

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Basketball Team (8-14, 6-6 NEAC) came up with a big win at home over NEAC North Division foe Keuka College on Saturday, 74-71. With the win the Wildcats retain an outside chance at getting into the NEAC Conference Tournament.

Point guard Alex Drake (West Sand Lake, N.Y. / Lansingburgh) exploded for 26 points on the game (16 points above his average), including five three-pointers.

The Wildcats knocked down key free throws late in the game, as T'Andre Richardson (Utica, N.Y. / Utica-Proctor) and Drake accounted for the team's final eight points of the game, with all of them coming at the free throw line.

Richardson also finished with 16 points to and 6 rebounds, placing him second on the Wildcats in both categories behind Alex Drake and Derek Rowe (Mexico, N.Y. / Mexico ) who had a monster game coming off the bench with 12 rebounds, 9 points, and 4 blocked shots.

On the other side of the ball it was Trevor Healy leading the way, as the forward poured in 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, both team-highs.

SUNYIT will look to come up with another do-or-die win tomorrow, when the team hosts Wells College at 2:00 pm.
