MORRISVILLE, NY – A strong second half helped the Morrisville State Mustangs get past the SUNYIT men's basketball team 66-60 Saturday, dropping the Wildcats to 2-2 in conference play and 2-6 overall.  Morrisville improved to 2-2 in the NEAC and 3-5 overall.

After a sluggish first half in which Morrisville shot 32 percent from the floor, the Mustangs would heat up in the second half, shooting 52 percent that included going 4-of-6 from the 3-point line.  It would be the reverse for the Wildcats, as they shot 44 percent in the first half before hitting just 31 percent of their shots in the second.

The Wildcats went into the half up 33-31 and would cling to a one-point lead, 52-51, with 8:05 remaining to play, but 12 unanswered points by Morrisville over the next five minutes gave them an 11-point lead with 3:21 to go.  SUNYIT could not recover from the run, getting as close as four points down but ultimately suffering the six-point loss.

Senior David Golembiowski (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) returned from injury and led all scorers with 28 points to go along with 12 rebounds and a game-high five blocks.  Senior Calvin Logins (Lyons, NY/Keuka College) registered 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while fellow classmate Kevin Cappiello (Youngsville, NY/Sullivan West) dished out a team-best seven assists and had a game-high four steals while scoring six points. 

Brandon Henry scored 15 points for Morrisville, while Dwayne Wade finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and two steals.     

The Wildcats will look to rebound tomorrow when they travel to take on Lehman College in the Third Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
