Utica, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season, falling 4-1 to Hamilton College. Both teams registered 13 shots, but Hamilton's goalkeeper, Montesano Scheibe, stood out, making six crucial saves. The Wildcats now hold a 4-1 record as they shift focus to Empire 8 conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first 35 minutes were closely contested until Luke Peplowski scored in the 39th minute, assisted by Cole Wassiliew, giving Hamilton a 1-0 halftime lead.
Despite a strong effort from the Wildcats, the Continentals kept up the pressure through most of the second half, scoring two more goals at the 51st and 72nd minute. The Wildcats would get on the board thanks to a penalty kick goal by Matthew McCord at the 77th minute. The Continentals would go on to add their own penalty kick goal eight minutes later, ultimately securing a 4-1 victory.

The Wildcats are back on home turf for their first Empire 8 conference game against the Elmira Soaring Eagles. The game is scheduled for September 21st at noon.
