WCC: Wildcats Finish Seventh at NEAC Finals; Albertson Earns NEAC All-Conference Honors.

LANCASTER, Pa. – The SUNY Poly women's cross country team finished seventh out of 11 teams in the 2016 NEAC Championship Race with 173 points. Of the 92 competitors in the race the Wildcats placed all five of their runners in the top 50 with their highest finisher placing 16th.

Senior Kiersten Albertson (Kirkville, N.Y.) led the pack for the Wildcats finishing 16th in the 6K with a time of 26:34.1. Her teammate Kassidy Eng (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished in 22nd place with a time of 27:15.7. The Wildcats rounded out their top five with a 38th place finish by Leanna Oakes (Staten Island, N.Y.), a 47th place finish by Jalize Mejia-Perez (Bronx, N.Y.), and a 50th place finish by Caley Grasso (Rensselaer, N.Y.). Oakes finished the race with a time of 28:53.5, Mejia-Perez finished with a time of 29:53.5, and Grasso finished in 30:21.3.  

The Fighting Tigers of Cobleskill State took the NEAC Title with an impressive point total of just 25. The Tigers had the top three runners in the race. Emma Bayuk was the NEAC Runner of the Year with a winning time of 23:21.3.

The Wildcats had one NEAC All-Conference Runner in the race. Kiersten Albertson was named to the NEAC Third Team thanks to her 16th place finish.

The seventh place finish is the Wildcats highest finish since joining the NEAC in 2008.

The team will be back in action on November 12th when they will travel to take part in the Division III Atlantic Regional Race at Rowan University in Glassboro New Jersey. The race is scheduled for an 11:00 AM start.
