GENESEE FALLS, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2015 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday hosted by SUNY Geneseo. The men's team placed 28th overall placing four runners in the top 200, and the women did not have enough runners to compete at the team level but had three runners compete individually.

For the men, junior Joseph Acey (Forestport, N.Y. / Adirondack H.S.) placed 154th with a time of 28:05.5. Junior John Hohl (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder H.S.) finished 168th (28:28.5). Oliver Craine (Syracuse, N.Y. / Corcoran H.S.) and Derek Smith (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Arcadia H.S.) finished back to back at 190th and 191st. Craine finished with a time of 28:56.0 and Smith finished in 28:58.2. The team finished 28th out of 41 teams with 912 points. The winning team was SUNY Geneseo who had the top runner in the race, Isaac Garcia-Cassani who finished in 25:11.1. The team had 54 points to secure the victory.

Unfortunately for the women's team, they did not have enough runners to qualify for the team standings, however Kiersten Albertson (Kirkville, N.Y. / East Syracuse Minoa HS) finished 248th with a time of 30:35.3. Angela Szeglin (Sayville, N.Y. / Sayville HS) and Caley Grasso (Rensselaer, N.Y. / Columbia HS) finished in 257th and 259th overall. Szeglin finished the 6K race in 31:30.7 and Grasso finished in 32:03.8.

This race puts the lid on the 2015 season for both teams. The men accomplished their goal of a third consecutive NEAC Championship under coach of the year Bill Tylutki. The women had a year with some growing pains as they started to build up their program around some great young runners.
