KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Women's Volleyball team won their final NEAC match of the regular season at Keuka College on Wednesday night (25-21, 27-25, 25-21). The Wildcats are on a tear, as they have won their last five matches with three of those wins coming against NEAC opponents. The victory puts the Wildcats into 5th place in the NEAC standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Wildcats and the Wolves entered the match with the understanding that 5th place in the NEAC standings was on the line. Keuka would come out of the gate strong, taking an early lead of 6-2 on a service ace from Alyssa Rex. The Wildcats would come back, making it a close match throughout until a kill from Sophomore Makayla Hulett (Colonie, N.Y.) and an attack error from Keuka would seal the first set win for SUNY Poly.
The second set was neck and neck until a strong serving effort from Keuka's Brooke Buck would lead the Wolves to a seven point run and a 19-16 advantage. Amanda Batten (Penfield, N.Y.) would counter with great serving, including a service ace. The set would go into extra points, but the Wildcats prevailed behind a service ace from Samantha Henry (Greenport, N.Y.) and a kill by Claire Ladlee (Leonardsville, N.Y.).
The third set was more of the same, as neither team held a lead of more than three points until the Wildcats took a 20-16 lead on an attacking error by the Wolves. SUNY Poly would not relinquish the lead, going on to take the match on a kill from Senior Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, Wash.).
NOTABLES:
- SUNY Poly was led by Makayla Hulett and her nine kills.
- Karlie King (Liverpool, N.Y.) totaled six kills on the evening to go along with 10 digs.
- Claire Ladlee, Brittany Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y.), and Casandra Campion (Balston Spa, N.Y.) each had four kills in the winning effort. Adams and Campion each recorded a block, while Ladlee and Adams had two block assists apiece.
- Sydney Johnson led the Wildcats with 24 assists and 14 digs on the night. She also had two service aces and two kills in her final NEAC regular season match.
- Lauren Moelbert led Keuka with a match high 11 kills.
- Keuka College recorded more kills, assists, and service aces than SUNY Poly. However, the Wolves had 29 errors in the match, while the Wildcats had just 19.

The Wildcats will close out the regular season at home on Saturday October 27th against non-conference rivals Oswego and Alfred. SUNY Poly will honor their three seniors, Casandra Campion, Samantha Henry, and Sydney Johnson as they will play in their final home match for the Wildcats. SUNY Poly will take on Oswego at 12:30pm and Alfred at 4:30pm in the Wildcat Fieldhouse.
