AURORA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball season came to an end last night with a 3-1 loss to Wells College in the NEAC Quarterfinal. The Wildcats won the first set 25-21, but fell in the second, third, and fourth sets (13-25, 18-25, 19-25) allowing Wells to advance.

The Wildcats were out hit in the game by the Express. Wells had a hitting percentage of .202 while the Wildcats hit just .041. The Wildcats had a slight edge at the net, out blocking the Express 13-12. The Express had more digs (63-51), more service aces (10-8), and more assists (45-28)

Wells right side Rachel Anderson led all players with 13 kills in the match, hitting an outstanding .407. Jackie Allen had 12 kills and 16 digs. Olyvia Brazier had a match high 20 digs and tied teammate Eliza Schwab with a team high three service aces. Schwab also had a match high 38 assists.

For the Wildcats, Karlie King (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Megan Will (Remsen, N.Y.) had nine and seven kills respectively. King had a team high 14 digs and a team three service aces. Will had a match high two solo blocks and a match high five block assists.   

Outlook:

The 2017-18 season was full of ups and downs for the Wildcats. First year Head Coach Juleah Wanner led her team to a 5-4 conference record qualifying for the NEAC Post Season, but went 11-16 overall after inheriting a tough schedule. The team showed streaks of greatness, but never fully hit their stride. The future looks very bright for this program. The Wildcat roster is chock-full of young talent and will have all of their upperclassman back next season.
