WVB: Wildcats Split a Pair of Weekend Matches.

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - On Saturday the SUNY Poly women's volleyball team took part in a tri-match featuring R.I.T (9-5), SUNY Poly (5-8), and the host, Bard (3-12). The Wildcats split their two matches losing to RIT in three sets (22-25, 17-25, 20-25) and beating Bard in three sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-21).

 

RIT

In the first match on Saturday, the Wildcats were taken down by the RIT in three sets. The Wildcat attack was a bit flat in the first two sets, hitting .000 with just 11 combined kills. The Cats' bounced back in the third set hitting a respectable .310 with 12 kills in the third.

Karlie King (Liverpool, N.Y.) had a team high seven kills in the match, hitting .182 on 22 swings.

Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, Wash.) had a match high five service aces in the match and assisted on 19 of the Wildcats 23 kills.

RIT's Joelle Marston had a match high 13 kills on 27 swings. Rebecca Bennett had a match high 11 digs.

 

Bard

The Wildcats came out gunning in their second match of the day. The Wildcats hit .276 in the first set en route to a 25 16 win. The Wildcats would keep up the solid play, closing out the match in three.

Karlie King again paced the Wildcats with a team high 11 kills on 39 attempts. King also recorded 10 digs in the win.

Brittany Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y.) hit .238 in the win with seven kills. The freshman also had two block assists and five digs.

Megan Will (Remsen, N.Y.) had a team high three block assists, tying Bard's Alexis Akingbade for a match high.

Sydney Johnson had 22 assists, 10 digs, and two service aces in the match.

 

Up Next

The Wildcats will host a pair of matches at home this week. First, SUNY Poly will host Union on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Then the Wildcats will host local rival Hamilton College on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Both matches will take place at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field House and will be streamed live on WildcatTV.
