WVB: Three Wildcats Voted All-Conference and Dan Liberto Named NEAC Coach of the Year.

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2016 Women's Volleyball All-Conference selections. SUNY Poly fared well in the selection process garnering three All-Conference Selections and a Coach of the Year Selection for Coach Dan Liberto.

Ryenn Smith (Lyons, N.Y.) was the Wildcats lone first team selection after having an outstanding season. Ryenn had a team high 413 Kills and 382 digs in 2016. She hit .176 and had an impressive 55 service aces in 33 matches. Ryenn was a NEAC Player of the Week for October 24th-26th and was voted the HERO Sports Division III HERO of the Week on November 3rd. In her career at SUNY Poly Smith totaled 679 kills and 737 digs. She is first all-time at SUNY Poly with 3.67 digs per set and is second all-time with 3.38 kills per set.

Senior Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y.) and sophomore Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls Wash.) were both voted to the NEAC All-Conference Second Team after having outstanding seasons.

Larson had a solid all-around season for the Wildcats. She led her team with 68 service aces, had 315 kills, a .200 hitting percentage, 312 digs, and 38 total blocks (34 assisted / 4 solo). Emma finished her outstanding career with 1109 kills, third most all time. Emma is first all time with .63 service aces per set, first all-time with 132 matches played, second all-time with 270 total service aces, and second all-time with 126 total block assists.

Sydney Johnson's season was one for the record books. The sophomore had 1112 assists in 33 matches breaking her own all-time single season best record of 1034 assists in 2015. Johnson hit .257 in 2016 registering 41 kills on 119 attempts, had 250 digs, and 40 service aces.

Coach Dan Liberto won his second consecutive NEAC Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 21-12 overall record. The following selection is from the NEAC's article announcing the Individual and All-Conference award winners.

"SUNY Polytechnic Institute head coach Dan Liberto garnered the NEAC Coach of the Year honor for the second straight time after guiding the Wildcats to another outstanding season.  Liberto coached his Wildcats to their second straight NEAC regular season championship in just his third season at SUNY Poly. His squad finished 12-1 in the NEAC to claim the title en route to their second straight 20-win season (20-11) that included a schedule featuring four nationally ranked opponents.  Liberto's squad also led all NEAC teams in per-set averages for kills (11.39), assists (10.57) and points (15.2)."
