WVB: Hawks Over Wildcats in a Back and Forth Five Set Match.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team hosted Hartwick on Wednesday in a non-conference game at the Wildcat Field House. The Wildcats and the Hawks fought back and forth in the five set match, but ultimately the Hawks were victorious 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 15-25, 25-21, 15-9).

Sophomore Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, W.A.) had a solid match for the Wildcats. She racked up a season high 51 assists. Johnson also had two kills on four swings, had a service ace, and five digs.

Ryenn Smith (Lyons, N.Y.) and Melissa Krak (Canastota, N.Y.) tied for a team high 16 kills in the match. Krak hit .191 on 47 swings and Smith hit .106 on 47 swings. Krak had a match high 16 digs and a block assist to go with her healthy serving of kills. Smith had 15 digs and a block assist.

Lauren Knowles (Washingtonville, N.Y.) had a great game at the net. She racked up three solo blocks and a block assist. Knowles also had seven kills.

For the Hawks Hannah Armstrong led her team with 16 kills on 38 swings for a respectable .289 hitting percentage. Alyssa Zeitler had a match high three service aces and 12 digs in the match. Jamie Reidy had 31 assists in the match and a team high 14 digs.

The Wildcats record falls to 14-7 with the loss to Hartwick. The team will be back on their home court on Friday when they host SUNY Geneseo in a non-conference match. Match is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
