WVB: Wildcats Beaten by Sage Gators 3-2 in Five Set Match.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team hosted Sage College on Wednesday in a non-conference match. The Wildcats were beaten in five sets after a closely contested back-and-forth match. Neither team hit particularly well in the match, Sage mustering just a .074 hitting percentage and SUNY Poly with just a .071 percentage. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Gators [18-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-19, 15-17]

The senior duo of Ryenn Smith (Lyons, N.Y.) and Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y.) contributed more than half of the kills for the Wildcats. Smith put up a team high 13 kills on 54 swings and had 16 digs in the match. Larson put up 12 kills on 30 attempts and had three service aces and 11 digs in the match.

Casandra Campion (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) had a solid match for the Wildcats. She hit a team high .167 and had 11 kills in the match. Campion also had a team high three block assists.

Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls W.A.) had a game high 37 assists for the Wildcats. She also served well, registering a game high six service aces and had 14 digs.

Sage's Sara Campolieta had a match high 18 kills on 60 swings. She also put up 14 digs and had two service aces. The Gators setter Rachel Liebig had a solid 36 assists in the match and had 10 digs.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 3-5 on the season and improves Sage to 4-6. The Wildcats will be back at it on Saturday when they will travel to Cobleskill for a NEAC Crossover event where the Wildcats will face NEAC opponents Cobleskill, Gallaudet, Wilson, and Wells. Saturday's matches are scheduled for 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Sunday's will take place at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM
