WVB: Women Sweep Weekend Series to Extend Winning Streak to 16. Eberley Sets a New Career High With 24 Kills.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team hosted Skidmore, Plattsburgh, and St. John Fisher this weekend in a quad match where the Wildcats continued their winning streak. They went 3-0 defeating St. John Fisher 3-0, Plattsburgh 3-2, and Skidmore 3-1.

On Friday the Wildcats matched up with St. John Fisher, winning in 3 sets 25-18, 25-16, 25-23. Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place HS) led the way for the Wildcats recording 8 kills and 5 digs. Shelby Kostal (Greenport, N.Y. / Greenport HS) recorded 5 service aces.

Saturday the Wildcats defeated Plattsburgh St. in a nail-biter.  The match went 5 sets with the Wildcats winning after going down 0-2. The team came back in sets three, four, and five (27-25, 25-13, 15-10) to secure their 15th consecutive win of the season. Morgan Eberley (Utica, N.Y. / Whitesboro HS) had a monster match recording a career high 24 kills with a hitting percentage of .364 and 18 digs. She also recorded two service aces. Emma Larson added 14 kills and 14 digs of her own. Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, W.A. / Lakeside HS) had 50 assists in the match.

The second match on Saturday against Skidmore was won by the Wildcats in four sets 25-11, 21-25, 25-18, 25-22. Ryenn Smith (Lyons, N.Y. / Lyons Sr./Jr. HS) lead the way for the Wildcats in the third match of the weekend with 17 kills, a hitting percentage of .382, 5 service aces, and 24 digs. Sydney Johnson recorded another 47 assists in the match bringing her weekend total to 117. Morgan Eberley had 14 kills in the match bringing her weekend total to 45.

The three wins by SUNY Poly brings their current winning streak to 16 matches. Their overall record is now 16-2. The Wildcats have some much needed time off coming up. Their next match will take place on October 15th when they travel across town to take on Utica College. The match will start at 7:00 PM.
