READING, P.A. – The season came to a close for the SUNYIT Women's Volleyball Team (21-13, 9-2 NEAC) on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to the eventual NEAC Tournament Champion, the Gallaudet Bison (27-7, 9-1 NEAC).

The Bison overpowered the Wildcats en route to their second straight NEAC Championship the next day (a win over host Penn St.-Berks), however SUNYIT finished the season with one of their best records in program history, tying last year's school-record win total of 21 (also tied in 2008 under then-coach Becky Fletcher).

SUNYIT's nine NEAC-conference wins this year were also a school record.

Individually, the team excelled as well, placing three starters on All-Conference teams: Juleah Vedder (Dolgeville, N.Y. / Dolgeville) capped an outstanding career with a 1st-Team All-Conference selection; Taviot Jackowski (Lafayette, N.Y. / Lafayette) was a conference leader in assists en route to her 2nd-Team All-Conference selection, and fellow sophomore Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, N.Y. / Central Square) received a 3rd-Team All-Conference selection for her position near the top of the NEAC leader board in kills (along with Vedder, who was the overall conference leader in that category).

The loss of team leader Vedder will certainly be felt, as she was "the foundation of the entire volleyball program here at SUNYIT," according to head coach Jake Bluhm, however with young talent such as Jackowski, Harrington, and junior Hanne Saarinen (Lempaala, Finland/Tampereen Lyseon Lukio) returning next season, the future of SUNYIT volleyball is as bright as ever.
