MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer team lost to first place Penn St. Berks on Sunday. The Wildcats fought hard with the Nittany Lions, who are currently undefeated in the NEAC, but came up just short of a victory. SUNY Poly scored first in the game and held Berks scoreless for nearly 65 minutes, but Berks fought back late in the second half with two goals to secure their 11th consecutive NEAC win.

Senior Julia Jaikin (Dolgeville, N.Y. / Dolgeville HS) scored late in the first half on a break-away to give the Wildcats the lead headed into halftime. The goal by Jaikin was a nice looking chip shot that sailed just out of the goalie's reach and into the top right side of the goal. It was her eighth of the season.

Unfortunately, the high powered Berks offense would score twice in the second half on goals by Caitlin Golden and Lizzie Mammau; Berks's number one and two scorers.

Angela Bartlett (West Winfield, N.Y. / Mount Markham HS) made some great saves in the game. She registered eight saves on 10 shots on goal. Her season saves total is 97, a .789 percentage for the season.

The loss brings the Wildcats record to 9-6-3 (7-2-2 NEAC). The Wildcats, who have already clinched a spot in the NEAC playoffs, will be back in action on Saturday against Lancaster Bible for their senior day. The team's seniors will be honored in a brief pregame ceremony. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start.

Live stats and a live recording of both the ceremony and the game will be available on our website HERE
