WLAX: Wildcats Rout Eagles, Go 2-0 in Opening NEAC Weekend

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Women's Lacrosse Team (5-1, 2-0 NEAC) continued conference play on Saturday afternoon against the College of St. Elizabeth (1-4, 0-1 NEAC). The Wildcats completed the shutout against the visitors, posting a 19-0 victory.

Mari Ames (West Carthage, N.Y. / Carthage HS) and Krysta Beha (Marcy, N.Y. / Whitesboro HS) continued their hot streaks, leading the team with nine points apiece. Ames's came on three goals and six assists while Beha recorded four goals and five assists.

Alexandria Dodge (Marcy, N.Y. / Whitesboro HS) scored her first goal of the season to start the Wildcats off. Beha then scored back-to-back goals to put the home team up 3-0. Meghan Serota (Black River, N.Y. / Carthage HS) scored three of her four throughout the remainder of the half to pace the Wildcats to a 13-0 lead going into the break.

SUNY Poly controlled the ball for the majority of the second half, scoring six more goals throughout, two of which coming from Nicole DiPiazza (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie HS). The defense held strong as well, not allowing a shot in the final 30 minutes. 

DiPiazza and Serota each finished with five points, while Jenny Maxam (Clinton, N.Y. / Clinton HS) and Corrina Marconi (Rochester, N.Y. / Gates-Chili HS) added two goals apiece.

Beha was responsible for a team-high four ground balls and a game-high seven draw controls. Erica Maisonet (Walkill, N.Y. / Walkill HS) and Maxam each caused a game-high three turnovers. 

Carli Rogan (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie HS) got her second win in goal, recording two saves in the shutout.

SUNY Poly returns to action next weekend when they travel to Penn St.-Abington and Bryn Athyn to continue conference play.
