WLAX: Ames's Ten Points Lead Wildcats to a Big Win Over Maritime 18-2.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Women's Lacrosse Team improved to 3-0 on Wednesday evening, beating the Maritime Privateers (2-3) 18-2. Mari Ames (West Carthage, N.Y. / Carthage HS) led the way for the Wildcats. She had an outstanding day recording a game-high 10 points on five goals and five assists.

The home team controlled the entire game, scoring 11 first half goals and only allowing one. With 19:42 left to go in the first stanza the Wildcats had their strongest point of the game, stringing together five goals over the next three minutes. Nicole DiPiazza (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie HS) scored two of her three during that span.

The second half went much like the first with SUNY Poly adding seven more goals to their total, three of which coming from Ames. The defense continued to hold strong throughout the second half as well, only allowing one more goal.

Meghan Serota (Black River, N.Y. / Carthage HS) and Krysta Beha (Marcy, N.Y. / Whitesboro HS) each finished with three goals apiece and Serota added two assists. Jenny Maxam (Clinton, N.Y. / Clinton HS) had the best performance of her young career with three points, recording two goals and an assist. Corrina Marconi (Rochester, N.Y. / Gates-Chili HS) rounded out the scoring with two goals of her own.

Erica Maisonet (Walkill, N.Y. / Walkill HS), Tierney McGlynn (Watervliet, N.Y. / Watevliet HS), and Hope Cerasuolo (Johnstown, N.Y. / Johnstown HS) anchored the defense with three caused turnovers apiece. Cerasuolo also added a game-high three ground balls.

Megan Will (Remsen, N.Y. / Remsen HS) had another strong outing in goal, saving three of the five shots she faced to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Wildcats return to action next Wednesday, March 30th when they face Utica College at home.
